An exhibition to raise awareness of the origins of Roman portrait, from the city to the late Republican-old
A unique selection of portraits of the highest artistic level, over 150 pieces including heads, busts and statues full-length from the major European museums.
It starts from the first portraits in terracotta and bronze, and goes through the wide marble and bronze production in the Imperial Age; an ‘opportunity to learn more about what were the origins of Roman portrait and modes of representation of the Romans over a period of time from City republican age to late antiquity.
In addition to the indisputable beauty and importance of the many exhibits, the show lends itself to multiple reflections. Six sections, including: “Principles and men as gods” which shows the ways of assimilation from the emperor’s image to the gods, or “The face of powers”, a gallery of faces of the main characters of the Roman history, from Republic to Empire, which shows how their images had been made also in terms of political communication.

Aleksandr Rodchenko was undoubtedly one of the main generators of this creative and intellectual season, reflecting the spirit and the mythical aura.
Design, theater, painting, film, graphics and photography are subject areas in which the exceptional talent of this fascinating figure artist was confronted, opening up new creative paths for the subsequent development of each of them.
It was in 1924 that Rodchenko concentrated its main focus on photography, with the result of producing a vigorous change.
From a simple mean of recording reality, photography became a medium for dynamic representation of intellectual constructs, introducing principles of constructivist ideology.
In this exhibition we can see the “Method Rodchenko,” which included the use of diagonal compositions, progressive blurs, turned with time into a repertoire of “rhetorical devices” available to those artists who, by adopting the language of constructivism, believed in the possibility of a better transformation of the world’s civilization.

An international exhibition on the spiritual journey of the Homo sapiens up to the genesis of humanity
About two hundred thousand years ago, “Homo sapiens” began a journey from a small valley of the actual Ethiopia, to colonize the entire planet and to live with other human species.
The result was the great variety of peoples and cultures that we know today.
For the first time an international group of scientists from different disciplines: linguists, geneticists, paleontologists and anthropologists, has decided to reconstruct the roots and routes of human settlement. The combination of their research has created a magnificent international exhibition, which in six multimedial and interactive sections, describes histories and adventures of the great emigrations, still largely unknown, who designed the mosaic of human diversity.
