International Film Festival in Rome

In October there is yet another reason to visit Rome. The Traiano Hotel reminds all film aficionados of their date with the International Film Festival in Rome….so many events contained within one, single, large and important appointment which is not to be missed!

Venice has not even begun and already people are talking about Rome which, from 22/10/2008 to 31/10/2008, will be presenting the third Edition of the International Festival of Film.

Amongst the numerous events, there will be a tribute to the authors of Italian film animation and an exhibition dedicated to the Director Dino Risi, who passed away recently.

In the Preview of the Official Selection of the Festival, The Duchess by Saul Dibb with Keira Knightley and Ralph Fiennes will be presented, based on the story of the Duchess of Devonshire; also Banda Baader Meinhof, by Uli Edel with Bruno Ganz and Alexandra Maria Lara, describing terrorist events in Germany in the 1970’s.
 
In the Cinema 2008 section, the following have been chosen: 8 (Huit), a film about World Poverty divided into eight segments starring Jane Campion, Gael García Bernal, Jan Kounen, Mira Nair, Gaspar Noé, Abderrahmane Sissako, Gus Van Sant and Wim Wenders; as well as Un Barrage contre le Pacifique, by Tithy Panh, telling the story of the romance between Marguerite Duras and Isabelle Huppert.

In the Alice in the City section, a selection of 12 feature films will be presented amongst which is Summer, by Kenneth Glenaan with Robert Carlyle and Rachael Blake and also Lol, by Lisa Azuelos with Sophie Marceau.

In the Alternative Cinema section there will be two films presented which tell the life stories of two great musicians: Bob Marley and Fabrizio De Andrè; the first, Bob Marley: Exodus 77, by Anthony Wall, retraces the life of the master of Reggae, whilst the second one Effedià – Sulla Mia Cattiva Strada (Effedia – On My Wicked Path), by Teresa Marchesi, is an evocation of the great Italian singer-song-writer Fabrizio de Andrè.

International Festival of  Film… in Rome from 22/10/2008 to 31/10/2008 at the Auditorium Parco della Musica, Viale Pietro de Coubertin, only 1.5 km from the historical centre of Rome.
