photo contest lo scattone 2010

The Third edition of the ‘Lo scattone 2010′ photo contest is ended, this contest was opened to all photo enthusiasts of every level of experience and age.
The event, whose theme was “The Square”, was organized by the Association ‘Pro-Loco Dama In Casentino‘ in collaboration with the Municipality of Chiusi della Verna, the Province of Arezzo, the Mountain Community of Casentino and the AVIS Photographic Circle of Bibbiena. The contest was also sponsored by Nikon, leader of the international photography scene. The high frequence of partecipation to the contest and the support of agencies and companies that have promoted and sponsored the event are signals that show how, year-by-year, ‘Lo scattone’ photo contest has evolved thanks to a great spirit of iniziative and the will to involve always more people in this ambitious project.

This year 116 photographs were in the race that has been received from all over Italy and also from Europe.

A succession of emotions and colors to look imagining sounds and aromas of places to discover toghether. A virtual vacation between the most amazing squares of the world, framed in the ancient village of Dama that as usually has offered its streets to the itinerant photo exhibition of the works in race.

All photos were choosen by a Selection Jury and then by a Popolar Jury to assign the following awards: ‘Best Photo’, ‘Best Composition’, ‘Dama In Casentino Award’ (Assigned by the popular Jury). The ‘Best Photo’ award has been won by Alexandra Danciu from Romania of the ArtImage.ro Photoclub with the photo called “Summer in the city” taken in the town of Cluj Napoca: moments of relax from the muggy town between splashing water and colors.
Alexandra Danciu has also won the ‘Dama In Casentino Award’ with “Hide and Seek”, a black and white photo dedicated to childhood and to the desire to live. Finally the ‘Best Composition’ award has been assigned to Egle Bianchi thanks to the photographic triptych where was inserted a tribute to Dama in Casentino titled “Childhood memories”. The “Special Jury Mention” for the best photo of Casentino went to Silvano Rossi from Poppi with “Castle Square”, photo depicting the Conti Guidi Castle in Poppi.

TV Trivia Online

Posted By spreety

A TV trivia revolution is happening over at Spreety.

Los Angeles, CA –

Q. How old is Wonder Woman?

A. 2,500 years old (The New Original Wonder Woman, The Return of Wonder Woman)

Q. In Bewitched, why didn’t Darrin want Samantha to user her powers?

A. Darrin was scared, had an ego, and was concerned for Samantha’s well being. (I, Darrin, Take This Witch, Samantha; Mother Meets What’s His Name; A Is for Aardvark, I Confess)

Q. In Star Trek, what ancient, advanced race transplanted humanoids across the galaxy?

A. The Preservers (The Paradise Syndrome)

Answering these questions can be fun, but appreciating the context of the answer makes it more meaningful. That is why Spreety TV Online started a TV Trivia revolution by adding links to watch the pertinent episodes online. In the context of seeing the answer, a simple click will launch the full episode, when available online for viewing.

The trivia questions focus on plot based material, leading to a deeper appreciation of the character’s motives. For example, Wonder Woman was effectively an Immortal, but ran the risk of reverting to a mortal when she spent time away from Paradise Island.

Some of the questions are more technical, such as how Sam could see Al in Quantum Leap (a subatomic agitation of carbon quarks were tuned to the mesons of Sam’s optic and otic neurons). The depth of the fake science in certain shows can help us believe just a little more.

The TV trivia challenges at Spreety so far are Friends, Seinfeld, Babylon 5, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Stargate SG-1, Bewitched, Wonder Woman, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, The Jetsons, I Dream of Jeannie, Star Trek, Quantum Leap, Arrested Development, Everybody Loves Raymond, The A Team, Monk, Lost, 24, and Mad About You. A new one is added every other week.

For those concerned about spoilers, clearly testing one’s trivia knowledge is intended for after the viewing.

The TV Trivia is under the “Fun” tab on the Spreety.com site. Tell your friends how well you do.

Spreety Rising Star: Robyn Yannoukos

Posted By spreety

A new series of articles from Spreety features top, young entertainment talent online.

Los Angeles, CA - Are you in the mood for a surreal, artistic escape?

The films of Robyn Yannoukos might be a perfect fit. As an animator, puppet fabricator, and painter, Robyn is also a student academy award winning director. Her award winning short films available online include Africa Parting and Alice’s Attic, both of which create surreal worlds through the painstaking artistry of stop motion animation.

Robyn’s roots are from Greece and Africa. Her undergraduate degree is a BFA from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. After completing her Masters (MFA) in animation from UCLA, the transition to a filmmaking career has been a challenge. “You have to promote yourself,” Robyn explains.

Interestingly, self promotion and online video can sometimes be at odds. The path Robyn chose was the film festival route, which thrives on exclusivity for fresh content. For example, the Oscars has a rule preventing entries from being online during the process, with the exception of password-protected Internet screenings for press review or film festival submission. Once aware, Robyn quickly removed her films off the Internet to comply.

Of course, the benefits of the traditional film festival circuit are worth following the rules, mainly due to the caliber of people a young filmmaker meets. Once the film festival circuit is complete, the fresh artistic works can be made available online to help promote budding careers. To see award winning short films from Robyn and her peers, check out Very Short Movies Cinema at http://www.vsmcinema.com/.

Robyn’s patience and diligence in following the rules seems to be paying off, as she is now working on a few projects for Disney and the NFL. To follow her rising career, go to http://www.robynyannoukos.com/.

The “Spreety Rising Stars” series is to raise awareness of fresh, original entertainment talent. For more information, please see Spreety TV Online at http://Spreety.com
